Church of the Master Pastoral Position Opening


Church of the Master of Cleveland Heights, Ohio is seeking a bi-vocational Pastor, called by God to be the spiritual leader of our congregation. The ideal candidate exemplifies a Godly character, is compassionate in recognizing and meeting the needs of others and demonstrates a high level of competence. The Pastor will be called by the Holy Spirit and meet the qualities and characteristics set forth in Isaiah 61:1-3

Qualifications

Candidates must be Holy Spirit filled and guided. The candidates’ personal character and financial standing must be above reproach both inside and outside of church. Candidates must possess theological training and must have at least:

  • Three (3) years of pastoral experience

  • Be licensed and ordained to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in accordance with ABC/CBA

  • Demonstrate visionary leadership for church growth

  • Value interpersonal relationships with the various ministries of the church

  • Possess strong written, and oral communication, and interpersonal skills

Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver biblically sound, stimulating, inspirational and Spirit-filled sermons; should have a demonstrated aptness for Bible based teaching; should possess strong interpersonal skills; and, should be approachable and demonstrate inclusiveness for all demographics within the congregation. Candidates must be open to new ideas, proficient in the use of technology and must have a commitment to Christian education and a zeal for missions and evangelism.

Responsibilities

The following are the primary duties to be performed by the Pastor:

  • Lead in administering the Holy ordinances of Baptism and Communion

  • Serve as spiritual leader for the congregation

  • Preach and teach the gospel by preparing and delivering relevant, Spirit-filled sermons.

  • Officiate at funerals, weddings, baby dedications, etc.

  • Conduct pastoral counseling

  • Conduct premarital counseling of church members

  • Lead bible study and membership classes

  • Train church leaders

  • Minister to bereaved church members

  • Visit with the sick/shut in

  • Work with church officers and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with church leaders to discuss the direction of the church

  • Act as moderator of church business meetings, except meetings where the tenure of the Pastor is being discussed

  • Recognize and actively promote the gifts and talents of the church body

  • A statement of interest which describes your conversion experience and call to ministry.

  • A current resume

  • A detailed listing of ministerial/pastoral experiences and accomplishments

  • A statement of denomination and a copy of your diplomas, degrees, ministerial license and ordination certificate

  • A video clip of a recent sermon

  • A recent family photo

  • Four (4) references:

  1. Two (2) pastor/clergy

  2. One (1) layperson

  3. One (1) personal
