Bringing Church to the People: Fresh Expressions of Faith in Greater Cleveland

Don't be discouraged by the decline in traditional church attendance. There’s an incredible opportunity for creativity, community, and outreach through Fresh Expressions, and we want you to be part of it!

In recent years, we've seen changes in how people engage with church, many no longer attend on Sunday mornings, but that doesn’t mean our mission to share the Gospel is any less urgent. In fact, this moment presents an exciting opportunity to take the church to the people, meeting them where they are and creating new spaces for connection, faith, and community.

We invite you to join us on Saturday, March 8th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Zoom for an informational session about Fresh Expressions, a movement that empowers churches to meet people in new and relevant ways. This session is designed to ignite your creativity, spark new ideas, and help you understand how Fresh Expressions can provide innovative ways to live out the Great Commission in our own communities.

Fresh Expressions isn’t just about holding services in unconventional places; it’s about offering creative and transformative opportunities for people to encounter Christ and connect with others in meaningful ways. Whether it's meeting for Bible study at a local coffee shop, offering a fitness class, or engaging with young adults through digital spaces, the possibilities are endless. This is the time for renewal, creativity, and reimagining what church can look like in a modern world.

Why Fresh Expressions?

  1. Connecting People to Christ: Fresh Expressions provides unique opportunities to connect people to the life-changing message of Jesus. It’s about engaging people on their terms, in the places and spaces they inhabit, and showing them the relevance of Christ’s love in their lives.

  2. Building Community and Relationships: One of the most powerful aspects of Fresh Expressions is its ability to create authentic relationships. These expressions of church offer people the chance to build community with others who share their faith, in a way that feels approachable and welcoming.

  3. Bringing Hope and Transformation: By meeting people where they are, Fresh Expressions offers an avenue for hope. We know that many are struggling with isolation, fear, and disconnection, Fresh Expressions can be the bridge that introduces them to the love of Christ and the support of the Church.

  4. Relevance to Today’s World: In a world that is constantly changing, we need to approach evangelism and discipleship in ways that speak to today’s culture. Fresh Expressions equips churches to do just that, by providing fresh, creative ways to invite people into the body of Christ in meaningful, relevant ways.

As Jesus said in the Great Commission, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). Fresh Expressions is an exciting way to live out this call in Greater Cleveland—by expanding the ways we make disciples and introduce others to Christ.

How Fresh Expressions Supports the Great Commission

These fresh approaches do not replace traditional gatherings and worship services; instead, they provide new avenues for churches to grow in their communities. Fresh Expressions gives us the chance to reach people outside the walls of our church buildings, people who might never step foot in a traditional service but are open to exploring faith in unexpected and meaningful ways.

By attending the Zoom session, you’ll learn more about how your congregation can become part of this movement, bringing church to the people in new, creative, and relevant ways. It’s time for a fresh approach to ministry that reflects the dynamic nature of our world and the enduring message of hope we have to offer.

Closing Line: We believe that now is the time for fresh expressions of faith to take root and grow in Greater Cleveland. Join us on March 8th to discover how you can be part of this exciting movement. Let’s embrace the creative opportunities God is giving us to live out the Great Commission, together.
